Raw Food Diet
Feeding raw diets to cats is a popular alternative for some cat owners. A big concern that cat owners must recognize is the potential risk when feeding a raw diet. There is a new worry of contaminated meat or infected food bowls, particularly if there are infants, elderly or immuno-compromised people in the house. It is safer to feed a high quality canned food, for you and your cat.
Diabetes linked to Food
Allowing cats to eat enough to become overweight is more detrimental to their health than the type of food they eat! Obesity is one of the key factors to feline diabetes. The most effective thing you can do is be the one who determines how much your cat eats. You will save money on the amount of food you buy, and help your cat to live a longer and healthier life.
Diet and Longevity
Cats fed a diet enriched in antioxidants, fatty acids, and a prebiotic had reduced incident of thyroid disease, decreased rate of weight loss, and a longer life span than those cats eating a cheaper/un-balanced diet over the years. So when you are buying your cat's food, reach for the higher quality/priced food. It really is better for your cat, and will keep him healthier longer.
So you think you are immune? In the last 5 years Wisconsin has had 93 Bats, 3 Skunks, 1 Dog and ONE CAT, all positive with the Rabies Virus. These are only the cases that we confirmed! Please be aware that it is in our state. When was the last time you saw a bat in your house? Get your cats vaccines up to date! Rabies is easily preventable but THERE IS NO CURE!!!
Are Microchips Causing Tumors?
As of right now, there is only one reported case of a Microchip possibly causing a tumor in a cat. The tumor was located in same area that the vaccines were given in, and ANY injection CAN cause irritation to promote tumor development. In conclusion, microchip induced tumors, in cats, are very rare, but possible. You need to decide if the benefits outweigh the risks.
